I am a Freelance Artist. I have been drawing and painting since childhood. Got my support from my father as he always appreciated art works. My art is about using fabrics and threads mixed up with colours. I love trying different materials and new skills. During lockdown I have learned crochet and started it as a small business on Etsy. Three years ago I joined the BRAC group to share my art with the whole world.
About the project:
My art is about my feelings toward my heritage and traditions in Sudan. The ‘Belonging’ theme has given me the opportunity to show some of Sudan’s culture and express what belonging means to me apart from belonging to Sudan. This experience has added so much to my skills of sharing ideas and thoughts. The BRAC-UWE collaboration has given me the confidence to work with students and create a piece that we all belong to and where everyone has put her/his artistic touch. The connection and commitment in our project grew through our virtual meetings during full lockdown. Then from April, working regularly in the UWE studio was a great way to practice art and meet with the students. It was a great experience and I have enjoyed every moment. Thank you, Ben and Mian.
