Name: Phillipa Glendinning Program of Study: Illustration
I am a foundation student at the University of the West of England (UWE) studying for an art and illustration degree. My primary mediums are watercolour, ink and thread. I stitch words in fabric which takes time and are therefore carefully chosen and contemplated deeply.
About the project:
It has been truly valuable to be a part of this collaboration, the work I’ve made has been directly influenced by the BRAC-UWE group and it is, in a way, an illustration of my involvement with the group. ‘Belonging’ to me is a sense of freedom and feeling completely accepted and safe at the same time. I experience belonging through community and memory as I am far away from my family and any physical place I have belonged to. Much of my creative practice is about community so it was natural to be a part of the BRAC project and a wonderful opportunity to connect with this group of artists. The experience of this project will continue to influence and enrich my perspective.
